CATANIA, Italy, May 15 (UPI) -- Volcano watchers in Italy shared footage of Sicily's Mount Etna erupting a stream of fiery lava against the backdrop of the night sky.

Mount Etna, considered one of the world's most active volcanoes, starred in a pair ofYouTube videos showing glowing orange lava flowing down the side of the volcano during an eruption Thursday evening. The volcano overlooking the city of Catania has been active for an estimated 2,000 years. The latest round of activity, in the volcano's southeast crater, began Tuesday.
