More than 400 protesters staging a sit-in against the influence of money in politics and congressional inaction to reverse it were arrested on the steps of the U.S. Capitol Monday, the first day of what is expected to be a week-long series of demonstrations.

"More than 400 individuals have been arrested for unlawful demonstration activity, and are being processed using mass arrest procedures," the U.S. Capitol Police said in a statement early Monday evening. Those taken into custody will be charged with "crowding, obstructing and incommoding."

Well they're off to a good start. Over four hundred arrested on the first day!
The fines they'll be paying should help cover some of the costs of riot gear the police will be using this summer.

Maybe this will be the spark. They have the right to Protest.

It feels like just about anything could kick it off.
It doesn't look like they got a permit and need one for that many people in D.C.

Know Your Rights as a Protester in DC

In general, if its less than 25 people then you don’t need a permit.
You are entitled to get a permit and you can take a lane of traffic. You need a minimum of 10 people to take a lane for a march.
Being on a sidewalk – You can block the sidewalk if you are under 25 people.
