THE WOODLANDS, Texas - The fourth largest oil company in the nation announced Thursday it is making major job cuts.

Anadarko reports having shed about 1,000 positions — nearly 17 percent of its workforce. The company is based in The Woodlands.

In February, Anadarko leaders discussed cutting the 2016 budget in half. The decision was based on energy market conditions and the prolonged drop in oil and natural gas prices.

Wow! Look at this! Job cuts are happening all over and I just read a msm news article that claimed the economy was booming and there would be lots of hiring and jobs. I guess reality is not a place they visit too often? Daily job cuts already has this one listed. http://dailyjobcuts.com/  I wonder just how bad it can get for the oil workers, so depressing when people are out of work that actually want to work.

You know the other thing that doesn't get mentioned is that number 1000 or whatever is just the person who's employed at said company. Most people forget that most families have a 2 person income. So losing one job effectively hurts that persons family by making it that much more difficult to make ends meet. So whenever I see a # of layoffs figure I add x4 because that's roughly the average American family size.
