D.C.'s snow emergency will remain in effect through Wednesday at 6:30 p.m., and the city wants drivers to know it's serious about enforcing the parking bans.

Since the blizzard began last Friday, the District has issued $1,078,000 worth of parking tickets and $65,600 in fines so far. It has towed 656 cars.

Never let a crisis go to waste! I can see if people intentionally parked their cars where the plows had to go, but I have a feeling that it took a lot of energy to write up all these tickets and that effort could have been used to contact people and tell them to get their cars out of the way, or just tow them. Government works for government. Moral of the story: get out of the city where there isn't an authority on every corner, just every other corner.
