The chief executive of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, has remained silent over the more than 48 hours since the Observer revealed the harvesting of 50 million users’ personal data, even as his company is buffeted by mounting calls for investigation and regulation, falling stock prices and a social media campaign to #DeleteFacebook.

British lawmakers called on Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg Tuesday to give evidence related to the company's links to political analysis firm Cambridge Analytica.

Media reports published by the U.K. newspaper The Observer and The New York Times on the weekend outlined how 50 million Facebook profiles were mined for data by an app called "thisisyourdigitallife". The data was then transferred to Cambridge Analytica.

The London-based company worked on Facebook ads with President Donald Trump during his election campaign in 2016, where it provided details on American voters. But the data allegedly held by Cambridge Analytica was not used in the 2016 Trump presidential election campaign, the company claims.

So far, Zuckerberg has been silent on the issue but U.K. lawmakers want to hear from him. Damian Collins, a member of parliament, sent a letter to Zuckerberg Tuesday requesting that he appear in front of the Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee.

We need to drop these two stocks  Twitter and Facebook.

Why aren't they in absolute free fall right now.  Because we are complacent.  Yea - just let them data mine your device.  Oh and by the way every number that is on your device is now ours to data mine also.  oh and by the way, now that we have access to those numbers without objection we'll take the numbers from them too.  I don't think there is enough sand on the planet to bury everyone's head into it, at this point.

The FTC is now probing Facebook’s use of personal data

Facebook is facing a Federal Trade Commission probe over the growing scandal in which it handed over the personal data of 50 million users to controversial research firm Cambridge Analytica.

The investigation will seek to determine whether Facebook violated the terms of a 2011 consent decree it signed with the FTC, which restricted the ways it could share users’ personal data, according to a Bloomberg report Tuesday.

The beginning of the end for Facebook. Cannot come soon enough.

Obviously the replacement is waiting in the wings but hey. We take these little blessings and cherish them.

My advice from the beginning was,  Do not do Facebook, My Space,  any of it.

Try and remain as anonymous  as possible on the web.   People laughed in my face and ridiculed me,  STOP IT Mr. PARANOID!!!!!!!    CONSPIRACY NUT!!!

LOL!!! Guess who's laughing now, It ain't Zuckerman or the facebook users.

Sadly,  the under 35 age group doesn't even know what privacy is or that they don't have any.
