From Facebook to Policebook

On Wednesday, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg posted a notice outlining extraordinary plans by the social media company to monitor all the postings and messages of its users, censor independent journalism, and use artificial intelligence (AI) to report users to the police and intelligence agencies.

Zuckerberg began his post, released in conjunction with the company’s quarterly earnings report, by declaring that 2017 was a “hard year” for Facebook.

“The world feels anxious and divided—and that played out on Facebook. We’ve seen abuse on our platform, including interference from nation states, the spread of news that is false, sensational and polarizing, and debate about the utility of social media.”

Facebook, he writes, has the responsibility to “amplify the good and prevent harm. That is my personal challenge for 2018.”

In Facebook’s “newspeak,” this means that the company will act aggressively this year to suppress the spread of information online and censor content, under the guise of combatting “fake news” and “Russian meddling.”

The truly ominous implications of this project are outlined in Zuckerberg’s post. Among Facebook’s initiatives, he writes, is “new technology to detect suicidal posts that has helped first responders reach more than 100 people who needed help quickly, and we’ve built AI systems to flag suspicious behavior around elections in real time and remove terrorist content.”

FB is an excuse to intrude on someone's privacy.

This 100 % I wonder if they will start considering not posting at all as reason to flag an account. Sounds far fetched but look at the depths they have gone in some of my previous posts about them.

Might be time to ditch fb, twitter and yt fully. Not worth it anymore with this crap.

Ditched FB 9 years ago

I DONT care when your kid takes a dump or where you are dinner....plus the hundreds of friends who were merely "aquaintances" 20 years before...

Never got into twitter....never

I do use YouTube for music videos from my time....run dmc janes addiction, pearl jam etc

But I really used YouTube alot for firearm and ammo reviews, sighting in, accessories, gel tests etc...

I maintained from day one that that piece of rubbish is simply a platform for click-bait and a very neat data-mine.  Everyone's postings is slapped into a massive database from which could be extracted all kinds of data and trends etc.  Much money can (and is) made from the sale of usable "clean" data to anyone who pays.  Sheeple are gullible, stupid and uninformed and will post all kinds of everything just so Zuckerberg and co can make loads of money.

This deeply troubles me as I'm deeply engaged with facebook and deeply depend

on all of it's life enriching features that ordinary email cannot. Thank you so much

for this illuminating post on something I'm quite passionate about. Wait.... I don't

have a FB account. Well, that doesn't matter. I'll get one right away and then I'll become

further outraged, paranoid, passionate, and start making posts on my account to free

my fellow facebookianz from this menacing mindgrip of a monster posing as a mere

social media platform. They'll listen to me after I let them all know.

(lol) /-)

Facebook.... I didn't think the typical CT did 'facebook.'

I have a FB page, I check it maybe twice a year. Basically all my friends are family members I don't give a crap about, but they had to "friend" me. I have a few old high school friends, but everyone on there is so weird. I mean, posting pics about your meal... posting pics when you go anywhere... Whatever happened to family photo albums?

This is just making me wish more and more that I never created a FB page. I never did the twitter thing, and don't give a rats butt to try that program. I've been boycotting youtube awhile now, I just wish there was a good alternative.
