A US air strike has targeted the leader of the Islamic State (IS) group in Libya and probably killed him, the Pentagon says.

Iraqi national Abu Nabil, also known as Wissam Najm Abd Zayd al-Zubaydi, was a "long-time al-Qaeda operative", it said.

The strike took place on Friday and targeted a compound in Derna.

The Pentagon said the strike showed that it would go after IS leaders "wherever they operate".

This is really starting to feel like a World War. Side note: How many times will they say they've killed this one?

They are like a hydra, cut off one head and it sprouts two. They are so scattered throughout the world now, that the chances of getting rid of them, would be like trying to rid New York City of its cockroaches.

They create IS, then act like they are trying to kill them, while making sure they spread throughout the world. Go figure!
