The calm before the storm: Britain to enjoy a dry weekend as commuters brace for snow and ice -10C

A dry and calm weekend of weather in Britain will be offset by an icy arctic blast with blizzards and gale force winds expected to batter the country as temperatures plummet to -10C in some parts.

The Met Office has issued an alert for snow for all of Scotland and most of Northern Ireland on Monday and Tuesday.

Up to four inches could fall over those two days, with forecasters warning of blizzards and frequent lightning strikes, which could cause power cuts and mass travel disruption.

Remote parts of Britain will be hit by freezing winds as temperatures could drop as low as -10C in Scotland and snow could even fall on higher grounds.

Stay warm! The weather is bad everywhere. :blueguy:  :brr:
