An unusual sound detected around the time that an Argentine navy submarine sent its last signal before going missing last week was "consistent with an explosion," according to a navy spokesperson. It occurred near the last known location of a missing submarine carrying 44 people.

Not nice, but they are probably gone!

I'm pretty sure it will be resolved in 2018? A hint on one of the mag covers. Forget which one :D

I'm not sure they are dead...

I'll be surprised if there are any survivors at this point.

I'd heard something about this explosion. But at the same time, I also read that one of our P-8s had detected a "heat stain" at around 240'. So who knows?

I’ve also considered the possibility that it was sunk, like near the Falklands.

In these times you have to wonder

At this point, I don’t hold out much hope. That sub has been down quite awhile.

too bad really.

I still don't think it's gone but that's a new conspiracy for you!

However. How long can they stay submerged without needing to come up?

I’ve not looked in to that particular subs type and rating, but for an Argentine sub, my wild ass guess is probably a little over a week without already having problems or going to extraordinary lengths. If there’s a hull breach in a critical compartment then a week goes to hours pretty quickly.

again, just a wild ass guess based on the one picture of what was reported to be the actual sub on the surface.

I hope I’m totally wrong

You are right. I just did some more digging. Do you know what time they last had contact :D

Argentine navy loses contact with submarine 01:22 (even the video lol!)

Yeah I'm not giving this any more attention :D
