Concluded: President Donald Trump Pardons the National Thanksgiving Turkey

Recommended Posts

Tuesday, November 21, 2017: President Donald J. Trump will pardon the Thanksgiving Turkey for the first time in his Presidency today. The ceremony dates back to the 1940s, with presidents occasionally sparing the bird presented to them; since 1989, during George H. W. Bush's first Thanksgiving as president, it has been an annual tradition for the president to "pardon" the turkey.

.... Pardoning a turkey.... sounds absurd... bit traditions and all that!

Drumstick and wishbone the turkeys..... Funny names.... @Cinnamon

Pardoning a turkey is weird. Maybe it's a signal to someone, whether or not it gets pardoned?

It's not fair to just pardon one turkey, pardon them all! From now on everyone has a Thanksgiving salad instead!
