Yellowstone Supervolcano May Erupt In Mere Decades

A new study of ancient ash suggests that the dormant giant could develop the conditions needed to blow in a span of mere decades.

If the supervolcano underneath Yellowstone erupts again, we may have far less advance warning time than we thought.

After analyzing minerals in fossilized ash from the most recent mega-eruption, researchers at Arizona State University think the supervolcano last woke up after two influxes of fresh magma flowed into the reservoir below the caldera.

And in an unsettling twist, the minerals revealed that the critical changes in temperature and composition built up in a matter of decades. Until now, geologists had thought it would take centuries for the supervolcano to make that transition.

If this is true, then it is possible it will erupt in our lifetimes. Since 1999, while not dramatic, activity  has been increasing including an ongoing earthquake tremor swarm that is one of the largest in recorded history that started June 12th, 2017. According to Dr. Robert Smith, the foremost authority on Yellowstone, there have been 15,000 recorded tremors in this swarm, not the 2000-3000 USGS is reporting.

Not mentioned in the media or recent articles, is the ongoing rising ground deformation in the swarm area which has exceeded the 2014 levels.

Some may consider this doom porn, but this study is main stream geology and worth noting in light of recent activity.

Or sooner!

What bothers me, is outside of the Yellowstone Observatories monthly update, no other reports since the swarm started in June are mentioning the swelling ground deformation in the same area of the swarm. Even the YO update doesn't tie the two.

The swarm and uplift are obviously linked. Hmmm.

There has been a lot of oddities around that particulate location in the last year. Cams off, Stats off at points, among other things. Does seem like concealment of a possible threat!

I swear I typed particular... Maybe that is accident that becomes reality in some way? I'm picking up something possibly?

Another possible connection to the Yellowstone magma chamber could be the ongoing quake swarm in Soda Springs Idaho. This swarm started in September 02, 2017 with over 600 quakes to date with a shallow average depth of about 7km.

In 2009, the University of Utah published this image of the chamber.

Notice the finger like extension is in the vicinity of Soda Springs.

I have not found confirmation the two are linked, but sure looks that way.
