The threat alone causes a lot of trouble.

Russia’s emergency services issued the following statement,

“Twenty sites are currently being evacuated, and more than 10,000 people have been escorted out, though the specific number is still being confirmed.

This appears to be a case of telephone terrorism, but we have to check the credibility of these messages”.

Currently 20 sites are being inspected for dangerous items though nothing has yet been discovered. Officials have stated that though they believe this to be little more than a threat, the warnings are being treated as legitimate.

UPDATE 1:30PM ET: Moscow officials now say that 30 sites are being inspected while more than 20,000 people have been forced to evacuate various areas.

UPDATE 2:41PM ET: State media is now reporting that all sites have been cleared with no sign of explosives. Officials say over 100 threatening calls were made over the course of the day.
