Glen Campbell, the indelible voice behind 21 Top 40 hits including "Rhinestone Cowboy," "Wichita Lineman" and "By the Time I Get to Phoenix," died Tuesday. He was 81.

A rep for Universal Music Group, Campbell's record label, confirmed the singer's death to Rolling Stone. During a career that spanned six decades, Campbell sold over 45 million records. In 1968, one of his biggest years, he outsold the Beatles.

I've hiked 10,000 Arizona miles

climbed over a 1000 barb wire fences

been shot at, threatened and nearly

starved to death

meanwhile Glen Campbell music chiming along in the back ground

a way of life and all it's music has slowly drifted away

This is very sad.  I had occasion to be in contact with Glen a couple of times over the last 30+ years.

Alzheimers is a terrible disease, that is what took him out.

He was a decent guy and a great musician.

RIP Glen, we sure loved your music and acting.

 :(
