Be careful on DrudgeReport.com today, virus ad

Recommended Posts

I turned my adblocker off to visit Drudge Report the last couple days because he was doing something funny to get you to turn it off.  Fine, I'll turn it off because he needs the revenue and his ads you don't even see.  BUT, today I visited his site and just left it there.  Then all of a sudden while I working in another windows, I heard one of those computer generated voices tell me my computer has been hacked and I need to call Microsoft to fix it.  Yeah right.

One of those Javascript hacks.  Google Chrome locked up after the voice finished.

Be careful today.

This is the only place that i disable my adblock.

I also use noscript which lets me know what is wanting to run.

I haven't heard of noscript.  What's that?

It's a firefox add-on that gives you control over which scripts are allowed to load and run in your browser.

It works, get it and install it.

Yeah, same shit for both me and my wife. We use Adblock Plus and had to shut it down to get there. We didn't have any problems with it, though, so far that is. I think Matt Drudge has become just another sellout anyways. He forgets that he's not the only news site out there. Thanks for the warning @TheToolman .

Yep. This thing is nice. Been using it for a long time. Unfortunately, I've gotten too lazy of late to suss out which script to enable to allow me to see the content I want on some of these news sites. I think some of these fools don't even know how many scripts they're running, and many are not obvious what they do. I guess it's ok though because the news is so bizarre lately I don't really know what to say about it.

Just wait! They're only getting started.
