Faster than we expected. One dummy missile from the Norks as retaliation? Terminal stupidity.

Apparently two B1 bombers flew along the DMZ escorted by south korea fighter jets, dropping dummy bombs.

Here's a Korean link

WTF are they thinking??? Might as well send in three flights of A-10s and take out their front-line artillery with "dummy" DU rounds.

Here the full article from FOX

Two U.S. Air Force B-1 bombers on Friday flew near the Korean Demilitarized Zone in a show of force, the Air Force said in a statement.

The two B-1 bombers flew 2,000 miles from Anderson Air Force Base in Guam to conduct a precision strike training exercise with South Korean fighters. The bombers were also joined by Japanese fighters during their flight.

These missions are called “Jungle Lightening” by the air force.

Later, the Air Force called the mission a "demonstration of the ironclad U.S. commitment to our allies."

The bombers fired releasing inert weapons at the Pilsung Range. The mission took 10 hours, according to the statement.

So this goes completely against Russia and China's proposal for both NK and the US to cease provocation, and its done right after the Putin-Trump meeting at the G20.

Does anyone think the timing isn't deliberate?

And again, what is Trump's calculation? What does he possibly have to gain by this, where is the upside, even if the ziomedia pretends it's all NK's fault?

Edit: From the Fox story:-

Quote

Amid heightened tensions with North Korea, the U.S. will conduct a flight test of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD), an element of the nation’s ballistic missile defense system, Fox News has learned. The test, which will be conducted by the Missile Defense Agency (MDA), is scheduled to take place this month.

The THAAD test will be conducted against an intermediate ballistic missile. THAAD is not a weapon used against ICBMs, but only short and medium range missiles.

There is currently a THAAD battery in South Korea but only two of the scheduled six launchers on the battery are operational as the South Korean government performs an "environmental impact" study at the golf course where the battery is deployed.

So you know the issue China and Russia have with THAAD right? Its anti-missile missiles can be swapped out for offensive nuke-tipped missiles, undetectably - satillites can't pick up the swap. It therefore changes the strategic balance wherever its deployed, which is why China is objecting to its deployment in SK, as are (evidently) the South Koreans, and why Russia is objecting to its deployment in Eastern Europe.

It's just another part of the provocation equation in SK, but it's a not-insignificant part, esp given that test they're planning on.

Anyone think a show like this will change anything???

Just the gas bill alone for two B-1s to fly from Guam would stagger the average person. Then the maintenance man-hours and parts for them if anything broke. Not to mention routine maintenance. And I don't believe Osan has any permanent B-1 support. So there's more people and transport from Guam if one of the planes was seriously broke-d!ck. All to drop dummy bombs.
