A healing thread for burned out care givers

Recommended Posts

It was a year ago today Janet Faye the wild Cherokee Indian passed on from this world

made so many mistakes, I had never been a care giver before, so many things I would have different

in this thread I'm going to share with you all that I know, all that I have learned

I learned more in the passed 6 years than I did in the previous 37

take a load off, have a seat, crack a beer

we can help each other

Think about not having anyone. It makes you look better. If you saw what some people have, you would feel better.

You are going to be perfectly fine. You are just in the adjustment period. I fear the day it happens to me. I know it is coming though and thus I mentally prepare.

Either way you will be watched over. You've done more than most ever would. Showed how much you truly cared. That won't ever be forgotten in the grand scheme of things.

You have us, for what it's worth.  We do care about you.  Let us know what you're going through, maybe we can help.  Somebody always cares.

Thank you for posting this, it's such an incredibly important topic.  We've been going through extensive care-taking of elderly relatives now for many years and it's been exhausting and limiting to us in other ways.  But it needs to be done, I just wish society would be more supportive of care givers.  We're usually the forgotten men and women.  And DO write that book!  Or a podcast - I prefer books myself.  I think you have a lot to share and people can profit from your knowledge and wisdom.
