90,000-strong child porn ring busted on ‘dark web’

Recommended Posts

Police in Frankfurt swooped on suspected pedophiles after busting a massive child pornography website on the ‘dark web’. The site had almost 90,000 users who swapped graphic images of children and arranged meetings to abuse them.

The forum, known as ‘Elysium,’ had existed on the internet’s darkside since the end of 2016.

Frankfurt public prosecutor's and Germany’s BKA Federal Police said they arrested several people connected to the forum, including the sites suspected operator, a 39-year-old man living in Frankfurt.

The unidentified man was arrested on June 12 when police raided his apartment seizing the server used to host the site.

They haven't said how many were actually arrested, but the crimes include the most heinous against children and included toddlers.

Weird.  I saw this product the other day being advertised.

Wonder if "Elysium" is some sort of code word?  This product seems so illegitimate and fake. The reviews alone are laughable.  Sorry, off topic.

It's the name of my mates thrash metal band. I'll have to ask him.  They back sepultura..  Had sepultura live at my house for two months.. What a mad flashback

Remember when they said they caught Assange because the government owned the exit port things or something?  So they have always known who is who no matter what onion routers or tor stuff..  As soon as I heard that about a year ago now I realised there is no dark net the government can't see and control all of..  They've known every drug dealer hitman pedo scam artist on the planet and they always have.  No such thing as anonymous

I know I can put myself in the mindset of the investigators. I would if I was paid to do so as my job do it in this way:

Gain access to the network of pedos, Put a 6 month order in place in which I am to get close to the leadership or main players. Then move on them. I can imagine that due to the network and how it sets itself up that you would not be able to go in and just arrest those involved. So I do see that one may need to play along to be able to take out those involved. In the end I think it comes down to ethics and I think those doing it now need better rules for doing it. 6 months is the max amount I'd wait. But these investigating wait a hell of a lot longer.

Is it more beneficial to do 6 month takedowns scraping a couple thousand pedos info and getting them taken down. And the server too. Or do you wait longer and take down entire networks... I think disruption is best. The main thing with pedo networks is sharing of images and material.

The ultimate goal for those stopping them has to be first and foremost halting distribution. If distribution is down then so are those looking to acquire new material for sale meaning less victims by proxy? Demand for it might go up but taking down ways to get that might be the best way.

I know I'd rather have disrupted networks where everyone is scrambling to look for places to purchase and failing than allowing networks to stay up and online for years were they can hurt people for long periods of time. Disruption is key. Especially since we live in a society so f**ked up that pedos are everywhere... Thanks to communism!

Which begs a question.. Is it really that simple. Will disruption halt the amount of abuse to minors? Or will it just escalate it since these people have no virtual sources?
