Clashes erupt between anti-G20 protesters and police in Hamburg (WATCH LIVE)

Recommended Posts

German police and protesters squared off Thursday on the streets of Hamburg as world leaders arrive for the G20 summit.

Some 8,000 left-wing activists gathered for a massive protest in central Hamburg to greet leaders with the message “G20: Welcome to Hell.” Demonstrators from across Europe started mobilizing Wednesday with the main targets being U.S. President Donald Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Clashes with police erupted after protesters refused to remove their masks and started throwing “bottles and objects” at them, according to Deutsche Welle. Police responded with water cannons and batons.

My advice is to dance around in the chaos... Just say f**k it and have fun! Game over. To war.

An anti-G20 demonstration in Hamburg has led to a violent confrontation between police and protesters on the streets of the German city. Police were attacked by black-clad rally activists and responded with pepper spray and water cannons.

The march started off relatively peacefully as activists marched through the streets, chanting slogans and holding banners. It’s not clear who or what exactly triggered the fighting, but several loud bangs were heard, followed by bottles being thrown in the direction of riot police which had assembled nearby.

Police used pepper-spray on rioting protesters.
