An East Montpelier child died Wednesday evening after being resuscitated and rushed to the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington on Wednesday following a drowning incident.

“Each incident of a child fatality is a tragedy. Everyone in our Department feels the loss of a child and our hearts go out to the family,” Vermont Department for Children and Families Commissioner Ken Schatz said in a statement on Thursday.

Schatz's statement also said any child fatality is unique and is thoroughly reviewed.

The statement also said DCF has been working closely with investigators from Vermont State Police.

On Wednesday afternoon Vermont State Police in Middlesex responded to an emergency medical call about a 2-1/2-year-old boy who was found unresponsive in a family pool.

Pff..... Obviously nee supervision!
