ISIS new name ''Knights of the East''

Recommended Posts

Rumours appeared on various social media on the 5th July that the Syrian opposition may form a new armed group within the FSA (Free Syrian Army) called ''Knights of the East''.

This group will reportedly be located in the Badiyah region, another name for the eastern desert of Syria, aswell as in Eastern Qalamoun. It will consist of inhabitants from Deir ez-Zor province.

This group's aim is to coordinate military operations in the Syrian Badiyah and reach the Deir Ez-Zor province.

This newly formed group, alongside other groups in the Badiyah region aim to combat the Syrian government forces, its army and allies and ISIS.

Another reason for this group to be launched with an operation is the return of displaced civilians, to maintain peace, security and order.

The US and the Global Coalition to counter ISIS are reportedly heavily involved in this newest merger and creation, but so far there is only little confirmed information.
