July 3 (UPI) -- More than a dozen people died Monday after a tour bus crashed and burned on a freeway in eastern Germany, authorities said.

Eighteen people were killed in the crash and 30 others were hurt near Bayreuth, Bavarian police said in a news release. Some were seriously injured.

The 18 dead were initially listed as missing amid the wreckage. The tour bus carried 46 passengers and two drivers -- all German citizens.

I don't think it's terrorism, but it's terrible, anyway. People were between 66 and 81 years old, men and women. :(

Kinda odd.

The cause of the fire is unknown. Traffic was reportedly moving slowly at the time and the collision between the two vehicles was not described as a major crash.

The lorry's trailer was also incinerated and the burnt-out wreck ended up a short distance ahead of the bus. The German news website Frankenpost reports that it was carrying mattresses and pillows.

The lorry driver was unharmed and told police the bus had gone into the back of his vehicle and burst into flames, it said.
