Detectives are evacuating an area in Manchester as they assess a car that they believe may be “significant to the investigation” into the attack on the Manchester Arena.

The white Nissan Micra is located in Devell House, in Rusholme, near a street being searched by police officers this week. A 100-metre cordon has been put in place around the Banff Road area and an evacuation is under way, Greater Manchester police said on Friday.

On Thursday, the force said they had been led to the area by studying CCTV as they attempted to establish how, when and where Salman Abedi’s bomb was made.
