Bin Laden sister, stepmother dead after crash

Saudi Arabia's UK embassy has confirmed the sister and stepmother of Osama Bin Laden were aboard a private jet that crashed into a car auction site and burst into flames in southern England.

The embassy issued a statement on Twitter on Saturday morning, Australian time, confirming the connection to the Bin Laden family. It's understood the jet was also owned by a company controlled by the Bin Laden family.

The Phenom 300 plane ploughed into a full car park at Blackbushe Airport at 3.09pm Friday, local time.

All four people on board the plane were killed, said Inspector Olga Venner from Hampshire Police. She added that the airfield has been closed.

Sky News footage showed the aftermath of the crash near the end of the runway and debris from the jet could be seen strewn among the dozens of severely damaged cars.

Andrew Thomas, who was paying for a car at the time in the reception, told Sky News it was an 'aggressive fire' and there was 'explosion after explosion'.

Wow, strange stuff. Bin Laden family in plane crash in England that caused an " aggressive fire' and there was 'explosion after explosion"? Sounds like their carry-on luggage had some extra flammable components?

Osama Bin Laden's father Mohammed originally registered the tail number of the aircraft involved in today's crash in the 1960s.

He was flying the aircraft with the number HZ-IBN, when he  crashed in 1967, however his family retained the registration.

The aircraft was registered to Salem Aviation - which was named after the dead terrorist's eldest brother, who himself died in a crash in 1988 when he ploughed into powerlines in San Antonio, Texas.

A source close to Saudi Arabian authorities said: ‘Saudi officials in contact with members of the (bin Laden) family.

They are aware of the reports and are carrying out checks with members of the family for further information.’
