Sources: Nation's disabled work program mired in corruption, fraud

(CNN)The nation's premier federal program that provides work for people who are severely disabled is mired in widespread corruption, financial fraud and violations of the law, numerous sources tell CNN. And instead of helping the severely disabled find work, the taxpayer-funded agency is at times allowing jobs to be taken away from the disabled, the sources say.

AbilityOne, along with the nonprofit agency that manages its program for the severely disabled, SourceAmerica, are being investigated by authorities for illegal operations, financial fraud, mismanagement, operating in violation of the law, steering of contracts, and possibly obstruction of justice. Several inside sources tell CNN the program is among the worst cases of its type they've ever seen in a federal agency.

CNN has learned the U.S. Department of Justice has begun its own investigation into the various allegations. In addition, at least four separate inspectors general offices have active investigations into AbilityOne and SourceAmerica. The OIG from the General Services Administration, Department of Defense and the Veterans Administration are among those investigating, all led by the Office of Inspector General from the State Department.

Well this isn't a new development here.   The Congressman are on a bigger welfare program than the rest of us.  The only problem is they have to have money from some til somewhere to make sure you keep voting their incompetent ass back into office. Even if they serve for only a year they get benefits for the rest of their life.  They can vote themselves a raise anytime they want to, but have recently neglected the COLA for the rest of us.  The staff of the sitting on their can operation collects most of the state benefits, some leftover amounts make it to the disability recipients, (and that has to be accounted for down to the last penny).  This is just another government department strategized on growing more government.  It is the efficient machinery of government that allows 10 men to do the work of 1.  If you ever want a good laugh sometime, just go file a public records request.  You'll find not the most up to date information, but the most out of date information they still expect to be able to use.  Sloppiest filing system around.

In fact, you could probably nab everyone that works in the Department of Health and Human Services for some kind of corruption.  But let's not forget everything that will go on in the rationed healthcare system of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.  Just wait for the day that the gamble on that jackpot to ever pay off.  The government won't be able to pay off on Social Security when it comes due, why would they pay off on health insurance now?  The government kept robbing SS for years as they never had intention of keeping it separate.  Some people had decent private health plans until Part D from 10 years before that.  It passed through Clinton's hands well before George W signed off on it.  Clinton stated at the time "that it wasn't to help old granny, it was to help make you kiss the government's ass."
