SO I started recording radiation levels in my area

... so I know what the background level is... odd. Never would have thought I'd be in a position where I felt that was a necessary, prudent, and logical course of action. Strange world these days.

Mine is higher, too, used to be around 16 or 18, now it's 30 something.

Let me make it worse for you :)

It takes only 48 hours of no electricity , and they will start melting down.

Thats how long the generators can keep it going with gas..

this is a much bigger problem than getting sick from radiation coming from Japan. it will eventually accumulate to such high concentrations that it will be a problem, but that is decades away. no power for tv and phone and computer for any extended period of time and sheep get worried, just following their programming, but still, worried.

That's why a REAL bug-out plan is needed. Not a shack in the woods, but a means of getting from one part of the world to another. A sailboat would be best, outfitted with solar panels and wind turbines to make it as energy independent as possible.
