Latin used to be a solid part of many people's education.  But for several decades at least it's suffered from the stigma of being a 'dead language.'  However a group in the UK is starting to change the classical language's image.

Excellent. All college-bound high schoolers should take two years of Latin.

Your -a- endings threw me off for a while. :)

Pig Latin is a forgotten art, like kids exploring the woods and playing jacks and hopscotch, lol.

But seriously, folks, the study of Latin expands the student's vocabulary, provides a basis for learning Romance languages (French, Spanish, et al.), and trains the mind.

I had 2 years in high school and wanted to teach it but could not take required classes because they weren't offered when I needed them.

Another plus, it's cool to use it. Make new friends and influence people.

Et tu, Brute.

Sic temper tyrannis!

Veni, vidi, vici.

Illegitimi non carborundum. (not correct but not igpay atinlay)

Am searching a bit for a good Old Latin Grammar... of the era of Jerome ala 405 A.D. and ideas?  Just searched Google for "Oesda igpa atinla ountca?" and this page itself was the sixth result item.  LOL

Oh, doiy... I had totally forgotten about pig latin... ouch.. stroke effects are so holey remembered memory  holes.

My father did two years of Latin in his mandated High School courses, like middle 1930s.  Myself I am learning Old Hebrew, Aramaic, Syraic, and Kione Greek... some online forums of Princeton and Boston College to ask questions of.
