Trumps strike with 59 Tomahawks did no damage to the airbase

Donald Trump bombed a Syrian airbase, Thursday, after innocent civilians were killed by nerve gas, possibly used by Syria. Trump ordered 59 Tomahawk cruise missiles fired at Shayrat airbase. At a cost to taxpayers of roughly half a million dollars a pop, you might think that Trump had done some real damage to Syria for that monetary price, as well as the diplomatic cost of vastly escalating America’s role in Syria by targeting the Syrian government for the first time. You might expect images of a mangled, devastated airbase, totally unusable, carnage as far as the eye can see.

The first images emerging from people who are there show–well–a different kind of story. The Washington Post first published images from this Instagram feed apparently maintained by a Russian journalist embedded with a Russian military unit. The account has been active for two years, and has documented life among Russian troops in places like Aleppo.

Six Syrian soldiers were reported to have been killed in Friday’s missile strike, which destroyed as much as 90 per cent of the base. Syrian officials said nine civilians, including four children, were also killed.

No Russian soldiers or equipment were reported to have been damaged in the attack. The Pentagon said it informed Russia of its plans to strike hours ahead, giving them time to remove any aircraft they had stationed at the base.

Syrian military sources said that they also received intelligence about the strike in advance and moved equipment out of the base, in a sign the missile strikes were intended as a show of force rather than a serious attempt to damage the Syrian regime's airstrike capabilities.

One senior Syrian rebel official from the Free Syrian Army called for international air strikes against all Syrian air bases, not just one.

"We call for there to be joint (international) strikes ... in all the airports" he said. “That’s the only way to protect the people.”

Wait so they knew it was coming but left children there? Something doesn't add up with that.

Agree, why the 4 kids?

It's like "hey you did no damage and we knew about it so got everything out, but oh yeah you killed children during the strike."  Something stinks about that.

I suspect they're looking for sympathy somehow. I hope it's a lie and they didn't leave kids there to gain sympathy.

1.57 million dollars each. 59 of them now have to be replaced to maintain the ordinance levels. 92 million dollars of tax payer assets got used. The government knows there is plenty more where that came from and so does the US defense sector.

So what did it achieve?  A 3% rise in the share price of the manufacturer Raytheon. Raytheon and their media companies are backing the Trump decision all the way.

Raytheon only gets paid 830k per, i think trump is trying to show us that the Deep State(military industrial complex) is all about slave jobs, the russians are reporting only 23 made it there, that means more than half were duds in some way, but the us government doesnt get refunds for bad equipment

so 300 million USA citizens and divide that 100 million dollars wasted on Syria, what does that equal out to if you just gave the money back to the USA Families (legal) HMMM , that would stimulate some growth! (a little)

OR since it was military money been better spent on our VETS!!
