shit does my f**king head in.

...the same people who would rail against the "mafia", or bikers,  and the stand-over tactics they often deploy are almost entirely oblivious to what government really is.

The last full year I lived in jersey(2003), in total direct taxation, I lost 59% of my income. Paying 7% sales tax plus a graduated state income tax of $4500, it's easy to see how that happens. Plus, jersey has the highest property taxes of any state.

Stealing through politics. Wasn't this the primary cause of the revolutionary war? Boston tea party?

Oh wait, is that hate speech?

This is a topic that's near and dear to my heart.  I'm at a point where the kids are grown, so no deductions (but one still lives at home).  I'm probably at the peak of my earning potential, trying to stuff away as much as possible to retire.  I did the math, some of which was estimates for sales tax, I didn't keep every receipt and add it up, but I came up with 56% of our gross income was spent in Taxes.  I've got my 401K set to the max, and any more I'd have to pay tax on that too.  Our forefathers went to war over 3% tax on Tea.  I just can't believe we are so impotent over this.  This is where the loss of Freedom is that hits me the hardest.  We really are the frog in the boiling pot.
