Nice. We don't have a lot of inland game fish in NZ, just Brown trout Rainbow trout sea runner trout and Salmon in a few rivers. No Bass or anything like that.

Most of the good fishing is done off the beach with surf caster, or even long lines set by canoe for people who don't want to go home hungry.

You get Cod, red and blue, Snapper, Kawhia (not sure what you would call them in other countries) Yellow eyed mullet, King Fish, Marlin (not off the beach, but yes for Kingfish you can catch them off the beach here) Gurnard, Butter fish, Elephant fish, John Dory (not off the beach) Orange Roughie, Crayfish (Spiny Rock-lobster, no claws with a very meaty tail) Abalone (Paua in NZ), Mussles, Oysters, Pacific oysters, Kina, lots of sharks. If you have a boat the species you can get goes up dramatically as NZ is a series of Islands.

Some NZ fly fishing and the legendary mouse year.

Guy where I last lived caught a trout with 9 mice in it's gut from the mouse plagues when the trees fruit well in the bush. Big fish when it those years.

It would be mad to fish NZ, I watch 'Big Angry Fish' and the Kingies and Snapper those guys catch on the Corramandles-? Are just freaking awesome.

Not to say Aus doesn't have good fishing though.

BTW, awesome fish dude!!!

thanks everyone.

hopefully in a couple of more weeks i can get back out and try to land another one of these monster northern pike.

they do get bigger here in Ontario, and some fishermen here at home, might call this one a baby....lol

fishing is the only thing that takes my mind to where it really should be.

with the current events lately , its a must.

give a man a fish, and he will feed his family for a day.

Teach a man to fish, and that's the last you will see of him, as he will be out with his mates fishing all day long. :gsbrnint:

love fishing, just not very good at it. Saw this on a tee shirt once - "Worlds best fisherman. Women love me. Fish fear me"

i think i'm the other way around................:blueguy:

Great fish.

What i like most about those pics is the place. Just look at that view. A great place to be fishing.

I get to go sometimes here (Southern England Coast) but we are stuck with expensive lakes and murky ponds for anything fresh water. The beach and sea fishing is good but its always cold and grey when the decent fish are about. Saying that its Mackerel season soon so there is a bit of sunny fishing to be done.

To go fish through a hole in the ice under those skys would be nice.

Happy hooking and good luck for the future.
