All United Airlines Flights Grounded -Computer Glitch?

2 posts in this topic

I wonder how this story will shake out? Will this be blamed on Russia, China, North Korea or some terrorist group?  Probably...

United Airlines flights were grounded nationwide Wednesday morning.

The Federal Aviation Administration issued a ground stop alert due to an "automation issue" for United Airlines.

The FAA said planes would not be allowed to depart until 8:15 a.m. CT or later, but delays are expected.

"We experienced a network connectivity issue this morning," United Airlines said in a statement. "We are working to resolve this and apologize to our customers for any inconvenience."

It was not immediately clear what caused the issue.

A ground stop for some flights that operate for United Airlines has been lifted Wednesday morning, according to an alert from the Federal Aviation Administration.

A warning had gone out earlier in the morning saying that there was an “automation issue” causing a problem for all United Airline flights.

Around 9:30 a.m., the FAA said in an advisory that the ground stop is for United Airline “mainline” only flights. It goes on to say that sub carriers for United “have been released from the ground stop.”

Several United flights also were grounded nationwide last month.

United Airlines did not immediately post details about the cause of Wednesday’s problems. A phone call and e-mail to the airline was not immediately returned.

In a statement, United said, “We experienced a network connectivity issue this morning. We are working to resolve this and apologize to our customers for any inconvenience.”

The airline carrier is one of the biggest in the country, serving about 16 million passengers a day.
