Japanese skating rink featuring frozen fish causes a stink

Recommended Posts

Who could possibly think this is a good idea? Eww, when skating the blade tears up the ice and any meaty parts that might be close to the surface.   Thousands of fish.

A skating rink with thousands of dead fish frozen underneath the ice has been forced to close its doors after causing outrage among its customers.

About 25 different kinds of fish were inserted into the new attraction at the Space World theme park in Kitakyushu, Japan, with some arranged into words and shapes to create what the owners called an "ice aquarium".

Following the opening of the 820ft rink, people took to social media to complain with some calling it "tasteless", "sinful" and "a desecration of life".

If the skater's blades didn't tear 'em up the Zamboni would get 'em for sure.

Who knew there were even skating rinks in Japan?

They than went home and ate sushi.

Seems like a silly thing to complain about. Although i do see how it's a bit tasteless. Plastic fish could have done just as well..

Maybe it's because there were so many of them. It's just morbid to be skating around on a rink filled with dead things.

I can see where they were going with it, and its a pretty fun idea. Just who thought "Dead fish" instead of fun, colorful plastic fish?
