Florida declares state of emergency (Matthew)

Florida declared a state of emergency all right. Now they have twin emergencies, Zika and Matthew. Someone keep an eye on the states bank account. Its like a federal disaster money laundering operation down there right now. (HA HA)

All kidding aside, if Florida or any of the other states in Matt's path really cared about its residents they would declare a tax free period to give people a chance to stock up on hurricane essentials. They should make food, water, batteries, flashlights, generators, chain saws, plywood, nails, medical supplies, boots, gloves, etc. tax free for the next few days. But nooooo....they would rather declare a state of emergency so the feds can come in to help with the aftermath. Oh lets not forget how much tax money will be put in the states coffers due to people stocking up too.

Also, I find it rather funny that Florida has set up "price gouging" hotline!

Gov. Rick Scott on Monday signed an executive order, declaring a state of emergency for every Florida county due to the severity of the hurricane.

“Hurricane Matthew is a life-threatening category four hurricane and we must all take it seriously," Scott said while visiting emergency management officials in Hialeah Monday. "If Hurricane Matthew directly impacts Florida, there could be massive destruction which we haven’t seen since Hurricane Andrew devastated Miami-Dade County in 1992.

"That is why we cannot delay and must prepare for direct impact now."

<snip>

Attorney General Pam Bondi also activated Florida's price gouging hotline. People can call this hotline if they believe a business has dramatically increased the price of food, ice, gas, hotels, lumber and water during a state of emergency.

The hotline number is 1-866-9-NO-SCAM.

Maybe the hurricane will blow the mosquitoes away? lol

Yes, it will blow the skeeters away for a day, then they will come back with a vengeance due to all the standing water Matt leaves behind.
