Conspiracy Theories and the Media

On November 8, Counterpoint organised, in partnership with Slate.fr, a seminar on the relationship between conspiracy theories and the media. Taking place in Paris’ Gaîté Lyrique, a venue dedicated to digital culture, it attracted a range of journalists and researchers. Among the many questions discussed were: should the media talk about conspiracy theories, or is it best to keep silent? Are debunking and fact-checking the best way for journalists to cover conspiracy theories? Should conspiracy theories be treated as ‘society’ stories? How should conspiracist comments online be dealt with? And what about genuine conspiracies?

It it me or does this look like an information control point? because of the effects of terrorism and the theories that came up in france? Never seen this place before just came across it randomly!

Definitely info control. Too many people asking questions and they are looking for a way to stop it. "is it best to keep silent?"  Hell no!
