Earthquake shakes homes in Wales as stunned residents report 'explosion'

An earthquake has hit Wales this afternoon leaving homes shaking and some people thinking an explosion had taken place.

Scientists revealed the magnitude three earthquake struck in North Wales at around 4.40pm.

Seismologists from the British Geological Survey (BGS) said the epicentre of the magnitude three tremor was Caernarfon.

But the force of the quake was felt in nearby Llanberis and Penygroes, parts of Anglesey and even as far away as Llangollen.

According to the Daily Post , the BGS says it is continuing to investigate the tremor.
