Cattle Mutilations

Cattle mutilations are instances where a domestic farm animal has been butchered with surgical precision. Although this is done mostly to cows it also happens to horses. In fact, the first case on record was a horse. The characteristics are such that they rule out a kill by wild predators such as coyotes and wolves.

On April 21, 1897, Alexander Hamilton, the noted statesman, was awakened at night by loud humming noises coming from his cattle yard. He and two other men went outside and saw an "airship" slowly come down and hover over the yard. Here is how Hamilton described it:

"It consisted of a great cigar-shaped portion possibly 300 feet long, with a carriage underneath. The carriage was made of glass or some other transparent substance alternating with a narrow strip of some material. It was brilliantly lighted within and everything was plainly visible. It was occupied by six of the strangest beings I ever saw. They were jabbering together, but we could not understand a word they said. It seemed to pause and hover directly over a two -year old heifer, which was bawling and jumping, apparently fast in the fence. Going to her, we found  a cable about a half-inch in thickness made of some red material, fastened in a slip knot around her neck, one end passing up to the vessel, and the heifer tangled in the wire fence. We tried to get it off but could not, so we cut the wire loose and stood in amazement to see the ship, heifer and all, rise, slowly, disappearing in the northwest. Neighbor Thomas Link (four miles away) found the hide, legs, and head in his field the next day and no tracks in the soft ground, which mystified him."

Paranormal journalist Nick Redfern said some UFO theorists believe that extraterrestrials are using cow blood for hybrid fertilization.

“It sounds like science fiction,” he concedes on the episode. “But [humans are] doing things like gene splicing, so the theory is that someone far advanced of us is doing something similar.”

Chris O’Brien, who has researched cattle mutilations for two decades, disagrees with that theory.

“Why would some non-human intelligence come light years to the pastures of the planet to gather ingredients for lip and testicle stew?” he asked. “It just doesn’t make sense.”

A more likely answer, he believes, is that the killings are conducted by an unknown agency monitoring the food chain to prevent another outbreak of Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy — commonly known as “Mad Cow Disease” — that plagued England in 1996.

Although many of the affected animals were destroyed, their bodies were turned into fertilizer, much of which was shipped around the world. O’Brien said it’s possible the Mad Cow Disease prions weren’t destroyed in the process. He thinks someone is killing and testing selected animals to make sure there isn’t another outbreak.

Some animal experts, such as Colorado-based vet Truman Smith, don’t believe there is any great mystery behind the mutilations — just the work of animal predators.

“I can see why people think it’s something more than just predators, but it’s always amazed me how smooth a job they can do,” Smith said on the episode.

However, as Miller points out, “Predators don’t drink 11 pounds of blood and leave the carcasses intact.”

There's no doubt that something strange is going on with the cattle mutilations and there's no doubt that they do happen. I believe the most recent one I read about was in Colorado a few months back.  If it was a government experiment of some kind, wouldn't it be easier to just raise cattle and use them?  The UFO sightings that usually go along with them makes them even more mysterious.  Good post, Titanic.

What do you think that's all about?
