Suspect Dead, Officer Hurt in Officer-Involved Shooting, Shelter in Place Issued

One suspect has died and an officer was taken to the hospital following some kind of violent struggle that lead to an officer-involved shooting in Chula Vista's Eastlake neighborhood, Chula Vista Police (CVPD) Captain Lon Turner said.

Police are searching for additional suspects in the incident, which unfolded at approximately 2:10 p.m. Tuesday near Proctor Valley Road and McKenzie Creek. The location is east of State Route 125.

Residents and businesses in the area are asked to shelter-in-place as authorities work. Officials will give an all-clear when it is safe for residents to leave their homes.

Turner said the incident began when at least one suspect initiated a violent struggle with a local plainclothes officer. Investigators say the officer is a member of a combined federal and local task force working the area.

Border Patrol (BP) units, including a helicopter, are assisting Chula Vista Police in the search, BP Public Affairs confirmed to NBC 7 San Diego. They said could not disclose further information.

I'm guessing he's not a straight, white, christian "homegrown terrorist".
