Hey Democrats, here’s what happens when you keep increasing the minimum wage!

Wendy’s said that self-service ordering kiosks will be made available across its 6,000-plus restaurants in the second half of the year as minimum wage hikes and a tight labor market push up wages.

It will be up to franchisees whether to deploy the labor-saving technology, but Wendy’s President Todd Penegor did note that some franchise locations have been raising prices to offset wage hikes.

McDonald’s (MCD) has been testing self-service kiosks. But Wendy’s, which has been vocal about embracing labor-saving technology, is launching the biggest potential expansion.

Wendy’s Penegor said company-operated stores, only about 10% of the total, are seeing wage inflation of 5% to 6%, driven both by the minimum wage and some by the need to offer a competitive wage “to access good labor.”

It’s not surprising that some franchisees might face more of a labor-cost squeeze than company restaurants. All 258 Wendy’s restaurants in California, where the minimum wage rose to $10 an hour this year and will gradually rise to $15, are franchise-operated. Likewise, about 75% of 200-plus restaurants in New York are run by franchisees. New York’s fast-food industry wage rose to $10.50 in New York City and $9.75 in the rest of the state at the start of 2016, also on the way to $15.

These low level jobs are for kids still living at home with their parents and I don't think were ever meant to be a career goal. Just like seasonal work on farms were mostly done by high schools kids back in the old days, those jobs enabled teenagers to earn some money to help their family buy their clothes and shoes for school and pay for whatever entertainment they enjoyed.  After that, they were expected to learn a skill, trade or profession and get to a point where they could support themselves and their own family.  Not be flipping burgers at age 30 or 70 FFS!

Look at what the free trade agreements, illegals, work visas and the practically non-existent work ethic that many Americans have instilled in their lazy ass kids have done to this country. Obamacare turned lots of fulltime jobs with benefits into part time jobs that can't support even one person, much less a family.  No jobs even if they wanted one for most!  What jobs there are, are boring and monotonous and few pay very well.

The economy is booming.  Stop believing your own lying eyes when you see your friend or neighbor's car getting towed away because they can't pay for it anymore or while you watch them have a yard sale because they have to sell what they do have because they're getting evicted from their homes.

f*** this government and the private businesses that are working together to destroy America! It's not good enough to just ship jobs out of the country or reduce them to ashes, the ones they can't ship away will become robotic.

The only good thing I can see coming from this is that lots of people will stop eating their crap food altogether and maybe be healthier for it if they make their own.  There isn't enough money in a burger, fries and a coke to pay those kinds of wages. It's just not there, even selling in volume.

This is from last summer but it hasn't gotten any better.

Seattle Sees Unexpected Fallout from $15 Per Hour Min. Wage

Of course, one of the things that supporters of the higher wage said was that they wanted to help lift min. wage workers out of poverty and welfare.

Only last week, for instance, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti claimed that a $15 min. wage in his city would lift 600,000 out of poverty. Self-avowed socialist Bernie Sanders, a VT Senator and a candidate for the Democrat nomination in 2016, also recently claimed that a $15 min. wage would “lift millions” of Americans out of poverty, off welfare, and into the buying public.

But now some workers in Seattle are finding that the higher wage is forcing them off the welfare programs they would rather stay enrolled in and, instead of celebrating their higher income, they are imposing fewer work hours on themselves in order to stay on assistance.

Kate Brown, the countries first openly bisexual appointed (not elected) governor of Oregon, has also raised the minimum wage and it's going to be a mess.

3 traps for the unwary in Oregon's new minimum wage law

As many employers are aware, last week Oregon became the first state in the nation to enact a tiered minimum wage.

The tiers roughly reflect the vastly different costs of living throughout the state. While these tiers take into account employers’ concerns that a “living wage” in Portland is more than adequate in Eastern Oregon, they may leave many scratching their heads when it comes to implementation.

This is especially true for employers with operations throughout the state.

The following are three important considerations for those with minimum wage employees:

I wonder if the BLS counts these automated kiosks as jobs added?

Ding ding ding!!!  Why is it so hard for people to understand this?  I started working at 15.  I rode my bike to a grocery store in my town and bagged groceries. I kept working hard.  Showed up on time.  Respected my bosses, even when it wasn't mutual. Worked my way into a career I wanted.  Now I do quite well for myself, and I am the boss.

Seeing a 30 year old flipping burgers and holding a sign wanting $15 and hour minimum wage... get out of here with that.  If you want to make a career out of it, you either need to be content with the pay or work hard and get promoted.  You know what, if you worked hard there is actually good money to be made in retail.  But you have to get yourself out of the low level positions.  Problem is that it takes motivation and hard work to do that.  These jackass' are more concerned about telling off their boss or their customers so they can put it on youtube.  Look at me, me, me, me... oh and I deserve more money because I'm 30 or 40 and flipping burgers...

It's Keynesian economics. Pay people more, prices rise, there is no gain but inflation.

Don't forget all them people coming over here on a green card.  They don't know English well enough to get anything more than McDonalds.  McDonalds, the immigrants' first workplace.  It's already better pay than what they would get back home, and send it there, but hey a boost in minimum wage and not have to be a rocket scientist: don't tell anybody else about this, they'll catch on!

It doesn't make any sense.  If don't have a Bachelor's degree and incur all this debt from paying for school, which of course, the teachers don't even get paid that well to even be there you can't even get something to get out bed for.  Foregoing all that, you can't seem to break $10/hr doing anything.  Who in the hell can make it in today's society make it on measley $10/hr?  So they try to make minimum wage $15/hr at some getting ready to fail restaurant chain, and instead keep the wage operation maintained at $10/hr by replacing people's jobs with machinery.  So the only reason why the person has that job is to keep the machinery working.  Don't have the extra penny you need?  Too bad, so sad, greedy machinery doesn't care.  Hand it over and the machine doesn't eat you for dinner.  It's almost like a deliberate conspiracy to make everyone work their butt off for miserable $10/hr.  If you didn't make the college rich, all you get is this miserable piece of paper, to say that you know what's best for whoever, then you ain't gonna have this elitist mentality making an elitist income.  Congress voted themselves in a conflict of interest COLA, and they're not even doing anything.  They didn't even give Social Security recipients a COLA, but the costs for living in a convalescent home didn't go down they went up.  I think they are screwing us across the board.  Also, why are they putting out job listings when they aren't even trying to hire anybody.  What a waste of time, that the government probably requires them to do.

This is what I dislike about the minimum wage increase...

First off, I make way above minimum wage.  That means that when they jack the min. wage up, some 14 year old punk working at McDonalds is suddenly making somewhat near where I'm at.  When you have a degree and experience, it seems like total bullshit because it's not like you're boss is suddenly going to jack your wage up too to make up for it.  Call me selfish if you'd like but I think people should have to earn their way.  Kids are so damn entitled these days.  When I was a kid I was lucky if my dad would let me use his gigantic brick-shaped cell phone.  Nowadays I see way too many kids with their faces constantly buried in their smartphone screens.  I have a feeling this "Pokemon Go" thing is going to cause more deaths than texting while driving ever could.  It might just become the new "drunk driving."

Did I mention that if I get a job I'm rubbing elbows with green carders?  Americans are the minority which is why I randomly fill out EOE "voluntary" demographic questionaires.
