Dried beans and rice are cheap and have long shelf lives. A few stores sell 1 pound hams in cans, to add flavor and protein to your beans. They are easy to store too. I save metal storage tins, like the ones they sell at Christmas with popcorn. It's coming. Get ready. Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.
