Washington D.C. cherry blossom trees reach peak bloom

Thousands of people flocked to the National Mall to see the cherry blossom trees in peak bloom last weekend. The National Park Service declares peak bloom when 70 percent of the trees have white or pink flowers blossoming. The four-week Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, D.C. runs though April 17, 2016.

The Japanese government gifted the U.S. 3,000 cherry trees in 1912 as a sign of hornor and friendship. See the blossoms in the video at the link. Awesome nature!
