Russia offers to help Japan shut down Fukushima reactors

5 posts in this topic

Russia’s state nuclear energy company Rosatom is ready to help Japan shut down the reactors at the Fukushima nuclear power plant. A huge earthquake and a resulting tsunami hit the plant in March 2011, causing three nuclear meltdowns and a massive radiation leak.

Japan has been struggling in its cleanup effort in the aftermath of the nuclear accident. As of March 2015, about 600,000 tons of contaminated water was contained within tanks at the site, with the cleanup estimated to take up to 40 years.

Earlier on Thursday Russian media reported that Japan was planning to ask for Russian help in shutting down Fukushima.

The Fukushima disaster is considered the second worst nuclear accident after Chernobyl.

Looks like RT is the place with all the news lately. You'd never know it was the 2nd worst nuclear disaster after Chernobyl, no one wants to talk about it in msm!

Japan refused help from nuclear scientists that went there right after the disaster. Now we've got military who were on a ship that are suing because of radiation sicknesses. I remember they moved that ship back 50 miles from it and it still didn't help! So whatever is going on with this is being covered up on a massive scale.

Idk how Chernobyl beats out a nuke leak that has been allowed to pollute the oceans since 2011. Russia may want to help, but the powers that want to be arn't stopping this. If they were going to, it'd been sealed and clean up would've began before Mayan Doomsday.

Jedi, I'm like you on this, Russia hasn't contained its own glow let alone help Japan. Nuclear energy is one of the dirtiest forms of clean energy, and certainly the most dangerous. It remains unclear, the effects we have caused by putting radiation into our ecosystem, by leaks, spills and bomb detonation.
