President Obama Considers Executive Action on Gun Background Checks

7 posts in this topic

Here we go again. Another proclamation! Crown him,he's not a president. More laws! More laws! We have enough laws!

On the same day President Obama travels to visit with the Umpqua Community College shooting victims’ families, the White House says he is considering using his executive authority to create new background check requirements.

In a news conference last week, the president said he directed his team “to scrub what kinds of authorities do we have to enforce the laws that we have in place more effectively to keep guns out of the hands of criminals.

“Are there additional actions that we can take that might prevent even a handful of these tragic deaths from taking place?” the president said. “This will not change until the politics change and the behavior of elected officials changes, and so the main thing I’m going to do is I’m going to talk about this on a regular basis, and I will politicize it because our inaction is a political decision that we are making.”

An administration official said examining a potential executive action on background checks “is part of that process” the president requested.

I like the term somebody else gave for him: King Putt.

The Thug-in-chief knows nothing but endless campaigning and lies. If his handlers wished, he would take his teleprompters to a party to stump for no more corks on wine bottles since they might sound like guns going off when popped open.

Following the current laws in place should do. All ya gotta do is close up the loop holes. Even then, people will find a way to aquire a firearm if they desire it enough. In that, I think backgroud checks and/or licensing for a firearm isn't a bad idea. I shouldn't be able to go to a gun show and buy a gun. That's as simpple as I can put it. But as for the clip size that will be mentioned later in this, I disagree, for two reasons.

First, it's not just for hunting, it's the right to bear the damn thing. So if you are a legal citizen that doesn't commit crimes, you can bear a fuckin tank for all I care. If you can afford it and are law abiding in it's ownership, it's yours.

Second, crimals don't use big guns or rifles for things like school shootings, no matter what the news says, and do you know why? Do you know why it's always in the trunk of the car (other than it's a hoax)? It's because no one sunk up into a class room looking like Rob Leifield's Cable on crack. Walking up to a location with a 100 shot automatic rifle will get the cops called alot quicker than a well concealed pistol. Simply all there is to that.

So there's this:

And I'd like to applaud Texas on this, because despite the lie, gun free zones don't work. But no one is gonna play Crazy Dave when he knows 1 in 3 have the hardware to end that campaign quick.

And something intresting I found while looking up all that.  http://www.click2houston.com/news/hpd-texas-southern-university-on-lockdown-after-at-least-1-person-shot-near-campus/35747894

The timing and the situation make me go O.o, but it certainly wasn't a copycat.

In Texas you have to be 21 to get a concealed carry permit so only the upperclassmen and teachers would qualify. If you're whacked enough to plan a shoot-em-up at school and you suddenly notice it's a gun free zone then your plan is foiled? The same logic fails with criminals. This incident seems to have stemmed from a fight and he could have had a knife instead of a gun.

It did invoke the usual fear response from parents who want their kids to be safe at school. Ok, but those kids shouldn't attend concerts, theatres or shop at malls either. Teach your kid how to navigate dangerous situations instead of calling for more legislature from the nanny.
