8 posts in this topic

Skype is down worldwide! Skype users are in a panic....Now this is real doom! (lol)

Skype service down for users across the world

A technical problem with Skype left many people across the world unable to use Skype and make calls on Monday.

Affected users have been reporting that their contacts are showing up as offline, even when they have signed into the service.

The problems started shortly after 09:00 BST on Monday.

Skype-owner Microsoft said it had "detected an issue with the status settings" on Skype that show if someone is online or not and that is was working towards resolving the problem.

We have detected an issue that is affecting Skype in a number of ways.

If you're signed in to Skype, you will not be able to change your status and your contacts will all show as offline even if they are online. As a result, you won’t be able to start Skype calls to them..

A small number of messages to group chats are not being delivered, but in most cases you can still instant message your contacts..

If you aren’t signed in to Skype, you may be experiencing difficulty when attempting to sign in. Any changes to your Skype account such as your Credit balance or your profile details might take a little while to be displayed..

You may also have difficulty loading web pages on the Skype Community. For that reason, please check back here for future updates..

We're doing everything we can to fix this issue and hope to have another update for you soon. Thank you for your patience as we work to get this incident resolved.

It would be better if it would stay down. It used to be totally decentralized, non monitored/etc until about 1-2 months when microshaft was going to buy it and they installed pods so they could monitor/record and gave nsa a direct feed. Before when it was decentralized, well they were basically sol. Now when it came centralized, text disapears (is censored certain words) nsa says skype has gave them tons of info they would not ever had happen before. Unfortunately the sheep still use skype, not punishing microshaft for what it has done and nsa. Then again, winblows has nsa code in it as well as most chips/cpu's. It takes some research to get away from this nonsense, but it is possible. Basically web 2.0 (this clearnet we are on now) is basically nsa owned. They are on all the routes/etc, and the same for some other networks. People are working on a non nsa net, however for the moment, it could also be compromised. There are several projects underway, which one day we may be able to finally tell nsa/friends "you are not allowed" and keep it that way.

However there are non nsa chat/video programs available, you just have to do some research to find them.

That setting was allowing for calls to not be monitored by big brother.  We'll have to down the service until that is fixed.  We can't have privacy going on around here.
