HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) — A sheriff in Mississippi says authorities are searching for two men who fired gunshots from a vehicle at soldiers at a military facility. No injuries were reported.

Perry County Sheriff Jimmy Dale Smith tells WDAM-TV (http://referralspam/1UlrHi6) that the shots were fired just after noon Tuesday. The soldiers were training at Camp Shelby Joint Forces Training Center in Hattiesburg.

U.S. Special Forces Command designated Camp Shelby as one of the sites where a multi-state military training exercise, "Jade Helm 15", was expected to take place, according to The Army Times.

About 4,600 soldiers are participating in the training exercise, which is scheduled to continue through mid-August.

A vehicle matching the description of the two suspects' truck was found near New Augusta off Old Augusta Road, according to WDAM. The suspects were driving a red Ford Ranger with the words "broken arrow" on the windshield.

And some people still have no idea why the FBI are starting to look at conspiracy theorists as potential terrorists.

This is why!

*continuation of article below links...*

Two men are being questioned by MHP, but are not under arrest at this time. Authorities say they are still looking for two white males who allegedly fired from the vehicle and fled in the vehicle.

Conspiracy theory websites have noted that a logo used in a "leaked" slideshow presentation for the "Jade Helm 15" exercise featured broken arrows in its design. In military terminology, "broken arrow" is code used to signal for assistance when a unit or camp is overrun.

Members of the Forrest County Sheriff's Department and the Mississippi Forestry Commission are assisting in the search.

Back up a minute, Furrie. First of all, Mississippi is not on the original Jade Helm training map of which there are 7 states participating with 1200 troops. In order to know that training was also in Mississippi and Louisiana you would have to have read the Army Times article linked above. That tidbit didn't go mainstream, did it?

4600 troops participating just at Camp Shelby alone? Buh buh, there were only supposed to be 1200 across 7 states.

I smell a set-up with this one with fake "terrorists" along with the recent tattoo parlor raid.

Good catch, and no, I don't think the Mississippi and Louisiana locations were known mainstream before this incident.

Camp Shelby regularly has troops cycling in and out. They have had a constant flow of training and  personnel since 1940 .

They cycle 100,000 people in and out of there each year .

Backfires, Not Gunshots? So Says Man Arrested at Camp Shelby

On edge after a gunman attacked military members in Chattanooga, Tennessee, authorities began looking for a maroon pickup truck that the soldiers described from the Tuesday incident. They found it late Wednesday morning when Alfred Baria Sr. drove past officers on a state highway just south of New Augusta.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation took him into custody at gunpoint, with officials calling a bomb squad into sparsely populated Perry County east of Hattiesburg to investigate plastic pipes and other items they found in the truck.
But the 61-year-old Baria told authorities that it wasn't gunshots at all, just the backfiring of his battered Isuzu. That's a story backed up by his son in an interview Wednesday evening with The Associated Press. Alfred Baria Jr. said his dad's pickup backfires loudly every time someone shifts gears and steps on the gas.

I hope this is true.
Everyone is on edge right now.
It's easy for people to over react.

The writer decided to insert this:

<snip>

So what if ct sites noted this?  This is poor journalism. Since there's nothing to tie conspiracy theorists to this incident, your point is moot.

This sounds Infinitely more likely! Besides, the gun owners I've known tend to be well-trained, accurate shooters.
