New Obama Gun-Control Plan Surprises NRA Policy could put 4.7M more Americans in background-check system AND more ways they're taking your 2nd Amendment

24 posts in this topic

A new plan to issue background checks on millions of potential gun-buyers has caught the NRA off guard, the Los Angeles Times reports. Responding to an executive order from President Obama, the Social Security Administration is devising a policy that could add millions of its beneficiaries to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS). In this scenario, people mentally incapable of handling their own disability payments, and those receiving payments for mental-health issues, will be reported to the NICS—which exists to stop illegal immigrants, convicted drug offenders, felons, and others from buying guns. The move could add 4.7 million Americans to the system and put Social Security in line with other federal agencies, including Department of Veterans Affairs, which already report to NICS.

Why do I never hear of any plans to get the guns out of the hands of gang bangers and criminals who already have them?

New York Times to Obama: Use Federal Contracts to Secure Backdoor Gun Control

On July 17 The New York Times reported on the Obama administration’s failure to get any significant gun control passed in Congress by suggesting there is still one avenue open–using federal contracts as a means to backdoor controls on gun manufacturers.

In other words, get gun manufacturers common among federal agencies–companies like Beretta, Glock, Ruger, Smith & Wesson, and Sig Sauer–to agree to gun control measures that affect the way their product is sold, to whom it is sold, and even what kind of products they make, before those companies are considered for federal contracts.

The NYT suggests these controls could include shrinking the number of dealers through whom these manufacturers will sell guns. They claim this will ensure that manufacturers only used FFLs who “sell guns responsibly.”

Under this scenario, certain dealers would be “certified” to handle distribution of products made by gun companies with federal contracts.

NYT whittles it down further to explain that “certified” dealers would mean those that adopt stricter standards for background checks than required by federal law. They want dealers to agree that they will not hand over a gun to a would-be buyer in a situation where the instant background check is extended to three business days, yet still comes back inconclusive. This means no sale in situations where no record is found, including no criminal record.

And here's another method of gun control that will probably be implemented in some way.

Bloomberg’s Everytown Launches Gun Control Push in Wake of Chattanooga

Michael Bloomberg-funded Everytown for Gun Safety has launched a “six-figure ad buy” to push for more gun control in the wake of alleged gunman Mohammad Youssef Abdulazeez’s attack on Marines and sailors in Chattanooga.

Everytown’s push relates to background checks and comes days after the FBI confirmed that Abdulazeez passed a background for at least some of his guns.

But Everytown is working backward; they are still trying to say the FBI’s “mistake” allowing Dylann Roof to get a gun in Charleston was not a mistake at all. Rather, they contend it was a “loophole” that Congress needs to address.

These people are relentless when it comes to chipping at the stone of the 2nd Amendment.

Getting  guns out of gangbangers and criminal hands would lower the democratic voter base, felons can't vote

ATF Works With FBI And VA To Get Veterans’ Guns Taken Away

Patrick Howley - Political Reporter 12:16 AM 07/21/2015

 http://dailycaller.com/2015/07/21/atf-works-with-fbi-and-va-to-get-veterans-guns-taken-away/

Read the rest of the article in the link above.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is involved in a government effort to disarm America’s veterans and seniors who may lack the capacity to manage their finances.

And it’s not just veterans facing this scrutiny: now it’s anybody who gets Social Security.

New documents obtained by The Daily Caller reveal that ATF, a division of the Department of Justice, is working with the FBI and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to enter veterans who get VA benefits into the government’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System.

TheDC first reported on a government program in which the VA sends veterans’ medical information to the FBI to disarm them. VA uses sneaky criteria to get veterans on the list for “persons prohibited under federal law from receiving or possessing firearms.” (RELATED: Daily Caller Reveals Secret VA-FBI Coordination).

If a veteran is deemed incapable of managing his or her own finances, the VA sends his or her information to the FBI to be automatically added to the criminal background check system. For some injured veterans, their incompetence was determined merely because they signed up for auto-pay on their debit cards, because their wife gives them financial advice, or because they asked for an in-house assistant to help with chores. The VA sends this list to the FBI every month. At last count, there were more than 120,000 veterans in the government’s background check system.

Report: 1 in 5 American Adults Takes Mental Health Drugs

More than 1 in 5 American adults now takes at least one type of medication to treat a psychological or behavioral disorder, a 22% rise since 2001, according to a new report by Medco Health Solutions, which monitors drug trends in insurance claims. Does that mean Americans are overmedicating their minds?

http://healthland.time.com/2011/11/16/report-whos-taking-mental-health-drugs-in-america/

If they include medical files in background checks they could disarm a whole lot people.
