Putin’s Plot to Get Texas to Secede

For Moscow's right-wingers, payback means teaming up with a band of Texas secessionists.

Nathan Smith, who styles himself the “foreign minister” for the Texas Nationalist Movement, appeared last Spring at a far-right confab in St. Petersburg, Russia. Despite roaming around in his cowboy hat, Smith managed to keep a low-key presence at the conference, which was dominated by fascists and neo-Nazis railing against Western decadence. But at least one Russian newspaper, Vzglyad, caught up with the American, noted that TNM is “hardly a marginal group, ”and quoted Smith liberally on the excellent prospects for a partial breakup of the United States. Smith declared that the Texas National Movement has 250,000 supporters—including all the Texans currently serving in the U.S. Army—and they all “identify themselves first and foremost as Texans” but are being forced to remain Americans.  The United States, he added, “is not a democracy, but a dictatorship.”  The Kremlin’s famed troll farms took the interview and ran with it, with dozens of bots instantly tweeting about a “Free Texas.”

For Russians, this was delicious payback. Since the breakup of the Soviet Union two decades ago, many Russians have come to blame the United States for their plight; a seething resentment over U.S. culpability in the loss of Russian national power is one of the reasons Vladimir Putin is so popular. It has only worsened since the United States has led an international effort to isolate and sanction Moscow over its annexation of Crimea and incursions into eastern Ukraine. Thus, over the past 15 months there has been a sudden, bizarro uptick of Russian interest in and around the American Southwest, most notably Texas, where secessionist sentiment never seems to entirely die out (TNM’s predecessor group, the “Republic of Texas,” disbanded after secessionist militants took hostages in 1997). In a rehash of the Soviet Union’s fate, numerous Russian voices have taken to envisioning an American break-up, E Pluribus Unum in inverse—out of one, many.

Nor is Texas the lone region for which Russia has cast secessionist support since the Crimean seizure. Venice, Scotland, Catalonia—the Russian media have voiced fervent support for secession in all these Western allies. (Of course, Moscow’s mantra—secession for thee, but not for me—means you’d be hard-pressed to find any Russian official offering support for Siberian, Tatar, or Chechen independence.) “Since the destabilization of the West is on Russia’s agenda, they may try to reach out to the U.S. separatists,” Anton Shekhovtsov, a researcher on Moscow’s links to far-right movements in Europe, told me. Russia wants a “deepening of social divisions in the American society, destabilizing the internal political life.” And certain Texans, rather than running from the taint of an authoritarian backing, have reciprocated.

I kind of like this idea, but russias motives are clouded at best!
They support Texans in such an endeavor, but not their own
republics of course! It's all about breaking up the west.

Why Vladimir Putin Wants Texas to Secede from the U.S.

By Rob Garver 5 hours ago

With the old Confederate battle flag very much in the news as a result of the horrific racist shooting in Charleston, S.C. last week, politicians across party lines are rushing to consign the symbol of Southern secessionism to museums, rather than to state capitols in former Confederate states.

But support for the secessionist cause still remains strong in…the Kremlin.

In a piece published in Politico, reporter Casey Michel outlines the deeply strange connection between the Texas National Movement, a group that advocates for Texas breaking away from the Union, and authorities in Russia.

Nathan Smith, the self-described foreign minister of TNM, has been welcomed at far right rallies in Russia, and feted by state media for describing the U.S. as being “not a democracy, but a dictatorship.”

The Kremlin has also apparently harnessed its considerable army of Internet “trolls” to gin up discussions of Texas eventually seceding from the Union on various platforms globally.

I am all for it if they pass a law prohibiting zio jews hebrews dualcitizens israeli  what ever they are calling thermselves now, from any policy and monetary making positions even better altogether like  Washington Franklin and others stated. Otherwise it will just be another fed res  run central bank run into the ground shithole. Worse 'patriotic' pseudo americans, think patriot act and the oxy moron with that protecting a fifth column by pointing guns at their friends neighbors  and relatives.

When I grew up the criminals hid their faces and wore black.  Like 'Scurrvy Dogs] Seriously look it up its a disease. Sneaking around hiding in shadows out of sight because they know what they do is foul and nobody would accept it at face value. This holds humanity down.

Seems too people have no problem doing it other Nations Ukraine Syria Iraq Threatening Iran Now Russia all for the interests of israel. You want to fight this then get isreal to cover the costs.

America is failing because these dual citizens direct policy benefiting another nation 'Occupied Territiory' by definition. Secession is worth supporting if it is a true change not this bullshit 'change'LMAO

Laws against changing names to hide ethnic heritage would also be a top  priority.

Sound mean, racist, anti semetic to you, All you have to do is look where we are at and who is sitting at the table.

It's way past time for us to "succeed".  We should have done so 30 years ago when all of these damn Yankees started moving here.

What's wrong with us yankees moving there? They move there because they like
the lifestyle change, and are willing to fit right in. As a matter of fact, my wife has
family who moved down there to Texas about 10-12 years ago, and now they sound
so funny when they talk. As far as they're concerned, they are full fledged Texans
now, and you couldn't tell them anything differently! And they used to live in Brooklyn
New York.

Difference is, people who come here from other countries who just come in to overrun
communities. Someone moving to another state in the country they were born in has
every right to do so... unless of course you consider them to be foreigners as well.

That old way of thinking still needs to change I see. You should realize it's no longer the
north vs the south!

The attitude towards yankees is not about the north vs. south anymore but about keeping liberal socialism in check . Californians get thrown into the same category....they've invaded Austin in the same way they invaded Boulder, CO.
