Nine animal brains found near railroad tracks in upstate New York

7 posts in this topic

GOUVERNEUR , N.Y., May 24 (UPI) -- Nine animal brains were found near a railroad track in upstate New York last week, according to witnesses and police.

Clover Forsythe, a resident of Gouverneur, New York, told North Country Now that a neighbor found the organs while walking her dogs.

Forsythe posted a picture of the brains on her Facebook page, describing each as "the size of an apple."

Police took one of the brains to local veterinarian Dr. Tim Monroe, who said it looked as if it had been professionally removed from a dog, and that it had been preserved in formaldehyde.

Monroe told WNYF the brain weighed about 70 grams, "which would be consistent with a dog-sized brain."

"You have to appreciate when you remove a brain from a skull, which is made of bone, you have to cut the bone all the way around. This had not been damaged, or nicked, or cut in its removal," he told North County Now. "I supposed it was somebody's collection that had outlived its usefulness and been disposed of."

Police said they did not believe a crime had been committed.

"Although the entire situation is disturbing," Forsythe wrote on Facebook, "breathing a sigh of relief that we don't have a predator killing dogs, but still creepy that someone would put them there."

Dogs range in size from chihuahuas to Great Danes and their brains range from the size of a peanut to a grapefruit. How can they possibly surmise 70 grams is a dogs brains without running DNA tests. Geez

Unless they're referring to Marco and his mods who are all dogs though 70 grams is being overly generous IMHO.

lol.. at that last part but in all seriousness. I agree it may belong to any number of things. Not sure how they could know without tests unless they have other info that we dont.

I think this is the first time I've ever seen a mod with a good sense of humour on any forum. I think I might just register and stick around for a bit. There seems to be more serious discussion of topics here and less of the woo, doom, birthday threads and religious rubbish etc found elsewhere,

Previous guest posts in this thread were me.

More important than anything else I previously mentioned is that there appears to be less censorship of the truth here than in other places and that is absolutely crucial to learning and being able to have an honest discussion.

Shep, I have an apology to make. In the very early days of DJ I accused you of censorship and asked you to delete my account. It appears I was mistaken.

Can't find an explanation of what happened to DJ.....

Apology Accepted!

Sarah the admin of dj closed dj due to the workload and not being able to moderate it fully as lots of porn/other things got posted when staff were not online. It was going to come back at one point i think. As i was asked to re-open it with her but the up and down game on dj is not the way to run a site and not fair to users as well as abuse from the admin being a problem so i chose not to.

Welcome aboard if you ever need anything do let me know.
