Neil DeGrasse Tyson: Science Should Rule the World

6 posts in this topic

Scientists study what they want, and they study what they can get paid to study, so the work of science is not free from the pressures of money, nor interaction with the business world.

It would be good, for many causes, if scientific evidence was taken more seriously in the political realm. Yet the human problems that government exists to address are solved by choosing among options based on human values, while of course listening objectively to reality.

The last thing the world needs is another religion and a state religion at that.

I believe science may... no... it will become a religion. Specifically this will be tied to the new world order one world government at its roots. Possibly scientology because of its core teachings, cult like state and basis on aliens.

I  agree,  in principle.  Atheism is already a religion for some. Tyson is popular and has a large following.

The institutions presented to us as "scientific' stopped doing science a long time ago.  Most of them anyway.  Most scientists are already a paid priesthood whose job is to produce goal seeked "evidence" in support of pre-determined notions.  Publicly funded science entered the realm of religion a long time ago :)

Agreed. Even in physics it's all about reputation (don't to question established theories!) and research funding. This development began somewhere between 1940 and 1960, since then science becomes more and more dogmatic.
