Calais mayor wants French migrant camps moved to UK after Brexit vote

5 posts in this topic

The mayor of Calais is calling for a revision of the border deal between France and the UK, saying migrant camps located on the French side of the English Channel should be moved to Britain, which must feel full consequences of its decision to leave the EU.

“The British must take the consequences of their choice,” mayor of Calais Natacha Bouchart said on Friday.

“We are in a strong position to push, to press this request for a review and we are asking the president [Francois Hollande] to bring his weight [to the issue],”she told French broadcaster BFM TV. “It is we who accept the hot potato.”

According to the mayor, the UK decision to leave the EU undermines the so-called Touquet deal reached between the two countries in 2003 which defined the rules of border control between France and Britain. The agreement stipulated that France would carry out border checks in Calais to intercept those seeking to make illegal crossings to the UK.

Bouchart stressed that the deal required negotiation due to Brexit referendum results, saying “there must be an element of division, of sharing.”

The suspension of the agreement would affect the biggest French refugee camp known as the ‘Jungle’ which houses over 3,500 people.

The French - Pffffttt.  That is probably the lamest most idiotic statement I have read on Brexit since it started. Britain should immediately deport every "funny" immigrant / migrant / "plant" they can find.  And if the country of origin refuse to take the scum back they should be sent to that same ficken camp in Calais. Each with a note stating that they were personally invited by Natacha Bouchart!  **In a Mr. T voice** "Have nice day, Fool!"

This is the best thing of Brexit. ALL OF EUROPE expected millions of migrants to keep passing through till they hit England. I've repeated this a few times today, but this is the funniest result we all could of wished for. Where after hitting england could they have gone? 'Cos f***ed if England were gonna ship em off to Australia ... Again! HahahahahababababbbBsxjxjkbcbhhxxkonf

Sorry honey... My wife is French, but pour all their wine in the gutter again like when they didn't back us in the war... Oh, wait a minute. We actually had no business being there, so maybe, just maybe, the French may have been right.

... but, not with this!

This sounds about right.  Yeah, move all of our migrants to somewhere else that's leaving the union, not necessarily their homeland, and just invade it.  Over there, we're going to do it over there.  But France is thinking about doing their own Brexit, so take your migrants back!
