  1. The database will create hashes of videos and images that they’ve already decided are related to terrorism, and then will allow them to single out any further content matching those hatches. Facebook says this will allow them to more quickly remove such content. The move is an attempt to react to US government demands to “do something” against terrorist propaganda, with the companies apparently hoping that the voluntary crackdown will be enough to stave off any formal government efforts to regulate them. http://theantimedia.org/social-media-database-terrorist-propaganda/

  3. A recently declassified document that was unearthed through the Freedom of Information Act, suggests that the Chinese government has conducted massive-scale studies on superhuman powers like telepathy, psychokinesis, approbation, aerokinesis, clairsentience, clairaudience, and more. The US Central Intelligence Agency was appraised of these studies, and could have conducted similar investigations, all while keeping the results hidden from the general public. The document titled, “Chronology of Recent Interest in Exceptional Functions of The Human Body in the People’s Republic of China” can be found on the CIA’s website, and details studies which the Chinese government and other agencies funded to test thousands of children to see if they had superhuman abilities. http://www.thedailysheeple.com/are-we-x-men-declassified-cia-doc-suggests-many-of-us-may-have-superhuman-powers_122016

  5. Interestingly, as IBT notes, when looking at the website source code, there is a notice purporting to be from a "hacker" who successfully infiltrated the website to leave a message. The hacker claims to know the identity of the administrator and even published his alleged Reddit username. "This site is being hosted by the Canadian citizen [redacted]. "He once worked for a Canadian Best Buy's Geek Squad. However, I thought that I had saved some informations (sic) about him on my storage systems, but I can't find them anymore. His name, citizenship and former position are from my memory, but absolutely correct. "He's actually just a little scammer, but now he's calling to murder the president-elect. I don't see how anyone could sit back and watch someone doing that. I actually planned to send an email to the United States Secret Service about him, but I can't find an appropriate email address of the USSS, so I've to post this here. The message is signed: "The kind Austrian citizen, 1k4." While such "murder-for-hire" websites have shown up in the past, and add to the mystique of the Dark Web, many appear to be scams or honeypot schemes ran by law enforcement. One similar, notorious website called Besa Mafia was hacked earlier this year and leaked emails referenced links to police investigations. http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2016-12-05/website-raising-money-fund-assassinations-trump-pence-uncovered-dark-web
  6. Most pieces of software don’t have the power to get someone arrested—but Tyler Technologies’ Odyssey Case Manager does. This is the case management software that runs on the computers of hundreds and perhaps even thousands of court clerks and judges in county courthouses across the US. (Federal courts use an entirely different system.) Typically, when a judge makes a ruling—for example, issuing or rescinding a warrant—those words said by a judge in court are entered into Odyssey. That information is then relied upon by law enforcement officers to coordinate arrests and releases and to issue court summons. (Most other courts, even if they don’t use Odyssey, use a similar software system from another vendor.) But, just across the bay from San Francisco, one of Alameda County’s deputy public defenders, Jeff Chorney, says that since the county switched from a decades-old computer system to Odyssey in August, dozens of defendants have been wrongly arrested or jailed. Others have even been forced to register as sex offenders unnecessarily. “I understand that with every piece of technology, bugs have to be worked out,” he said, practically exasperated. “But we’re not talking about whether people are getting their paychecks on time. We’re talking about people being locked in cages, that’s what jail is. It’s taking a person and locking them in a cage.” http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2016/12/court-software-glitches-result-in-erroneous-arrests-defense-lawyers-say/

  9. Balking at an earlier decision by the Army Corps of Engineers, Energy Transfer Partners — the company responsible for constructing the Dakota Access Pipeline — says the denial of an easement necessary to drill under the Missouri River is of no consequence for its plans to complete the project. According to a statement from Energy Transfer Partners and Sunoco Logistics, which is acquiring ETP in a merger: “As stated all along, ETP and SXL are fully committed to ensuring that this vital project is brought to completion and fully expect to complete construction of the pipeline without any additional rerouting in and around Lake Oahe. Nothing this Administration has done today changes that in any way.” In short, ETP will complete the Dakota Access Pipeline — no matter what the federal government says. http://thefreethoughtproject.com/pipeline-defy-army-corps-order-standing-rock/
  10. Media Matters boss paid former partner $850G 'blackmail' settlement Published February 27, 2012 Media Matters chief David Brock paid a former domestic partner $850,000 after being threatened with damaging information involving the organization’s donors and the IRS – a deal that Brock later characterized as a blackmail payment, according to legal documents obtained by FoxNews.com. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/02/27/media-matters-boss-paid-former-partner-850g-blackmail-settlement.html

As the "fake news" narrative grows, and The House quietly passes a bill to "counter Russian propoganda" websites, one alleged 'fake' news wesbite - as defined by the farcical PropOrNot organization - has struck back. Naked Capitalism's Yves Smith has threatened The Washington Post with a defamation suit and demanded a retraction. http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2016-12-05/fake-news-site-threatens-washington-post-defamation-suit-demands-retraction
